Sidewalk Lifts

Our Sidewalk Lifts are the best choice in applications that cannot have any part of the lift extending above the uppermost landing. Such applications include, basement to sidewalk in city environments for garbage removal, rooftop access for HVAC service, etc. Heavy-duty weather tight trapdoors are typically provided with each lift and are available in steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Many options are available such as security locking. Sidewalk Lifts are available with lifting heights up to and exceeding 20 feet. Platform sizes up to 7’ wide x 7’ long have been provided with capacities as high as 5,000 pounds and more. The standard operating speed is 20 feet per minute with higher speeds available. Access openings to the platform can be on opposite, the same, or adjacent sides or a combination of all three.

Our Sidewalk Lifts are normally shipped completely assembled to minimize installation time. All controls are pre-wired to also help reduce installation time. Each lift includes an enclosure with safety gates and interlocks for each lower landing to prevent lift access when the platform is not present and from operating the lift if the gates are open. Swing gates are provided as standard equipment. If the Lift is to be installed in a fire rated shaft, interlocks only will be provided to interface with the customer provided doors.

The Lift platform is raised using heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders and roller chain and is guided with heavy-duty engineered channels similar to those that are used on forklift trucks. Guide rollers are machined steel with sealed-for-life ball bearings. Sidewalk Lifts with short lift heights and lower capacities may use cylinders only which eliminate the chains and backstop safety. Lifts with higher capacities and car sizes may use telescopic cylinders similar to those used in the elevator industry for their durability and reliability and if higher speeds are required.

Optional equipment that can be provided to enhance safety or operation includes, A ramp at the lower level if a pit is not desirable, Complete platform enclosure with interlocked gates to protect against unstable loads, Vertically rising or sliding gates in lieu of swing gates, Dustight or explosion proof controls, platform conveyors for automatically loading and unloading the car and many others.

All required safety systems are built into each lift as required by the ASME/ANSI B20.1 code such as backstop safety, slack switches and platform railings. Each lift is designed with a minimum 5:1 service factor as required by minimum hoisting and lifting standards. Only high quality, USA sourced components are used in our Lifts.
